Still Alive

I am still alive, people!

Sorry, life's been really crazy lately.  To be honest, there wasn't a lot of running going on either.

Proud to report, this week I've gotten back. Slowly but surely.

BON running club on Tuesday and a quick 1 miler with Sadie around the neighborhood yesterday.  Hey, I am celebrating small victories here.

Back later!

Catch up!

Hello, all!

Sorry I disappeared for a few days! I've kept busy!

Monday I ran 3.1 in 29:40, 2 seconds faster than last weeks best time! Yahoooo! Hey, 2 seconds is 2 seconds! I'll take it.  Funny thing is, I felt like I was FLYING! Not so much.  LOL

Last night was BON running club and I ran the 3.1 loop in 30:00 and then kept going to try and find Hubby and Sadie.  They decided to grace us with their presence last night.  It was lovely! :-)  I think I probably ran around 4.25 when all was said and done.  Let's just say, Andrew was a little lost and someone had to go run and find them.....  ;-)  Why are men so directionally challeneged? LOL

I am taking today off running... I think my leggies need it PLUS I am hoping I found a part time job at our Vet Clinic! It would definitely be a blessing if so! We need it! Keep prayers coming for us!

I love our little family, even if we do struggle with moolah! It's all worth it... God definitely has a plan for us! We'll patiently (most of the time hehe) wait for it!

xoxo,
Steph

PS - my mileage is going up on that gadget to the right! :) Are you keeping an eye on it???

Bring the Rain

I always find this song resonating through my body. It makes me close my eyes, raise my head to the sky and sing.

I am so glad I've been saved.

No matter the situation, things will always work out in His way and on His time. I love the comfort this brings. I am still working on the waiting part, sometimes.

I love Him.

I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I've gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through these times
So I pray

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain

Rain ot ocean beach.jpg

I am Yours regardless of
The clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me
By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what's a little rain
So I pray

Weeeeee!

I did it! I had a "good" run last night.

If you have just started reading, I am trying to learn to deal with my exercised induced asthma during cold weather months.  It's a huge struggle.

Anyway, last night, I did it! I ran 3.1 miles in 29:42! Yippee!!

Sadie ran two laps around our block with me, too.   My goal is to work her up to where she can be my running buddy one day! :)  I would LOVE that.

She did great for those two laps! This is her right afterwards though...

Such. A. Cutie!

I really focused on trying to take deeper breaths and not hyperventilating.  I think I did fairly well.

Did everyone notice my little milage gadget on the side?  I am doing pretty well this week! I still have at least one run before the end of the week depending on how I feel the rest of the week!

Giving myself a pat on the back for this run.

Hey, sometimes ya gotta do it! ;-)

78 Sleeps

Did you know Christmas is in 78 sleeps and thirteen hours and some odd minutes!?

Since my husband is back in school now and we have only one income, a mortgage, house bills, car bills, etc. etc, Christmas this year will be very frugal.  Don't get me wrong... I am okay with that! It will just require a lot more planning and creativity this year! After all, Christmas isn't about gifts really, anyway! I just love giving gifts.

Anyway!

I've already started thinking about gift ideas.  I am pretty excited about it, too!

I come from a large family and now have a second family, my in-laws!

For example, just family/in-law wise, I have to buy/make gifts for: 24 people.

You can imagine how expensive Christmas COULD be for us.

I've come up with a personal challenge.

$250 for ALL 24 Christmas gifts this year.

That comes out to $10.4166666666666666666 (you get the idea!) a person.

We'll see what Hubby thinks about this! I am surrrrrrrre he will get his hands in there and help with all the creativity...   ;-)

It's going to be another very Blessed Christmas no matter what!

Wish me luck!

Running Club

Went to running club last night.  It seemed like the air was less dry.  I don't know if that is because of the amount of traffic around the loop we run or what but I'll take it!

The loop the club runs is a 5k... or depending where you start it could be longer or shorter.  :-)

I did DECENT.  Only walked twice for about 20-30 seconds.  Maybe my lungs will get used to the cold weather?

It would have been nice if I would have outgrown my asthma like some people.  :-( Jealous.

Well, at least I am still getting out there! Hooray!

No running tonight most likely... I have to get a car inspection and oil change and cook dinner for the hubs.

Ta-Ta!

Slight Improvement

So I ran yesterday.  Yay, for me!

It was a bit better than Saturday... I was able to control my asthma a bit more.  Not too much though.  I ran 2.45 in 24:40.  Small improvement, but I am working on it and really trying not to get too discouraged.

Need a good laugh?  So, yesterday I was doing some research on exercised induced asthma and cold weather running.  I came across this one guys story who bought a heat exchange mask to run in.  I had to check it out.  I decided I am going to purchase it... it's only $30, so not a fortune and if it helps me run through the winter, it's priceless.

The only issue is.... you order it off a hunting website. Yup, you heard right! Hunting.  Do you have a picture in your mind of what this bad boy looks like yet?

No? Let me help you.

Wait for it....

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiitttt for it!!!

BOOM!

Did you fall out of your chair laughing yet?  Pee in your pants?

Yes, I will be trying out running in this thing.

You know you're jealous.

Cooler weather = not good

So yesterday, (Saturday) I decided I was going out for a run.

It wound up being very frustrating.  This cool/dry weather is much harder for me to run in than the hot/humid weather.

It's funny. Most people LOOOOVE when the weather cools off and they get relief from the hot sun.  I, on the other hand, hate it.  Well, my asthma hates it.  It's too hard for me to catch my breath in.  Boo.

So, I did what I could yesterday under the new circumstances.  I ran 2.0 miles in 20:34.  Definitely not my best and it frustrates me, but I've got to just do what I can.  At least I am getting out there, right?

Maybe I will try again today!

Bye!
